Graduate Programs
As a graduate student you are expected to play an even greater role
in developing your education. This translates to a greater
understanding of a particular topic, initiative, attention to detail
and proven follow through. Earning an advanced degree often is the
key to a successful career.
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering
offers several degree programs that can address your particular
interests and career goals. Most are research-based graduate
programs and a few are less research intensive.
Research-based
Master of science degree programs are offered in:
- architectural engineering,
- civil engineering,
- environmental science, and
- water resources science.
Ph.D. programs lead to the doctor of philosophy in
- civil engineering,
- environmental engineering, and environmental science.
Less research intensive
-
The master of construction management (M.C.M.), on the Lawrence
campus, requires coursework and a project report.
-
The master of civil engineering (M.C.E.) degree is offered
primarily through evening courses at the KU Edwards Campus in
Overland Park.
-
A doctor of engineering (D.E.) degree is available in civil
engineering on the KU Lawrence campus. Students in these
programs often maintain their full- or part-time employment.
Professional Development and Continuing Ed
The department also coordinates professional development courses and
continuing education programs for practicing engineers.
You can learn more about the department, research strengths,
facilities, our faculty, and degree requirements by perusing this
